Where the mind is without fear

The poem,'Where The mind is without fear' is written by Rabindranath Tagore. 

The poem is a prayer to God. Tagore addresses God as 'my Father' and ask him to awaken his country into a heaven of freedom, where there is total freedom of good thoughts, good words, and a good actions. He wishes for a country where people will be free from fear, where knowledge as would be free to all individuals and people from all castes religions would be united.

The poet wishes that our nation should awaken from the darkness of prejudice, division of society, old tradition rituals and customs that are harmful, discrimination in imparting knowledge, insincerity, antruthfulness, fear and lack of self respect.
